050908 Outing to Yuki 'N' Yaki @ Marina Square Part 1

My boyfriend and I were feeling bored lately so we decided to gather some of our university friends for a dinner gathering after all we haven't been in contact for around 2-3 months. We kind of miss our gossiping times when we were still schooling. So Eugene, Hwee Ping, Daniel, my bf and me turned up at Yuki 'N' Yaki @ Marina Square because my bf and I were so hungry (we felt like eating a cow each). This is not our first time there so we know there would be buffet hotplate, steamboat and ice-cream (that we can eat to our fill).

We gathered a lot of food before the start of our feast. See! A table full of vegetables, meat and yong tou fu.

Herbal and Thai Tom Yam soup filled almost to the brink of overflowing with lots of vegetables and yong tou fu. Actually they taste almost the same to me. Cannot differentiate one from the other.

Hotplate containing my boyfriend's favourite prawns.

Since I was too engrosed in satisfying my hunger I did not take any more pictures of the steamboat and hotplate buffet. Also, with my dirty hands it would be quite troublesome as well. So I might as well continue enjoying my dinner. The salmon slices, prawns and fu-zhou fish cakes are quite nice and i ate a lot. Hahahaha.....

After having eaten a very filling main course buffet, we proceeded to expend our energy to the making of the ice-cream buffet. The ice-creams at Yuki 'N' Yaki are special because they are of different flavours in the form of some syrup in plastic cups. And you have to pour them over a ice cooler plate so that they would solidfy before scraping them off and putting in your mouth. The pouring and spreading parts were not so bad but the scraping off part required a bit more strength.

Our ice-cream syrups and chocolate biscuit rolls were ready. So was our ice cooler plate. Here we go.....

But wait, lets take a group photo first....

A little posing and we are ready. Ok there is this guy in the photo behind hwee ping who decided to join in the photo-taking session. Most probably he is a photo-taking fanatic! He looks weird in the picture as well.

First up is Daniel...

Master Daniel engrosed in making his first master piece - Chocolate ice-cream while Hwee ping and Eugene discussing and choosing the flavours they are going to use when it is their turn.

Master Daniel's final product - Sticky, chewy Chocolate ice-cream with chocolate chips. Nice and chocolaty! 5*s

Next up is Hwee ping's turn. Hahaha... Stealing some moment of her time to take pictures of ourselves.... Hahahahaha....

My bf with the strawberry and durian ice-cream syrups.

Me with strawbery and durian syrups. Looking very happy. Indeed I am very happy!!!

Hwee ping, Eugene and Daniel posing with Hwee ping's chosen peppermint ice-cream syrup, Eugene with a 'Victory twist' and Daniel with his proud accomplishment.

Hwee ping's turn....

Teacher Hwee ping's first attempt at making peppermint ice-cream.... It turns out to be a super sticky peppermint ice-cream... Super refreshing, cold and cool....

Next up is Eugene's durian ice-cream making turn...

Shifu Eugene spreading his durian ice-cream syrup... Hwee ping looking at his works while Daniel tries to steal Eugene's shot with his photogenic smile....

A persistent Shifu Eugene continues spreading an even bigger circle of durian ice-cream and smoothing it......

Flaky durian ice-cream plus rainbow colored toppings --- near-to-completion product....

A picture of the happy trio with the completed durian ice-cream......

Shifu Eugene's signature beautifully decorated flaky durian ice-cream.... Nice for sight and taste!!!

Now is my turn...

Preparation work in progress.... Cleaning up my tools before starting....

Secret recipe copied from Shifu Eugene.... Wahahahaha...

Step 1....

Step 2...

Step 3...

Step 4...

Step 5....

Step 6...

Step 7 - Touching up my masterpiece...

Finally --- My flaky passion fruit ice-cream with chocolate toppings and honey dew....

Me and my accomplishment... thanks to Shifu's Eugene teachings.....

Up next is my bf's turn... haiz...

See... He is slowly spreading his yam ice-cream... Seems like an expert... -_-

Starting to scrap his ice-cream... Still looking like a professional... -_-

Almost done with the last row of scraping... If you are wondering why there is a leaf in the picture, the answer would be revealed below....

Ya... The leaf came from one of a vegetables from the buffet shelves... It was my bf's idea to use it for decorative purposes... His signature 'King's' leafy yam ice-cream... So lame.... I guess it should be renamed as 'Rubbish Bin' yam ice-cream.... For me since it was ugly for sight so it spoilt the taste as well... See my bf is smiling so happily in the picture so I should credit him for his hard work but I am expressing my true feelings la... Hope he doesn't mind :p

Close-up pf my bf's proud accomplishment. It is such an eye-sore... Haiz... The leaf doesn't really blend in that well....

It is now Round 2 for everyone....

Back to Daniel's turn...

In the making process: Green-tea ice-cream with chocolate chips... Yummy!!!

Close-up of the completed product - Sticky and flaky green-tea ice-cream with chocolate chips. This is a perfect combination that satisfy everyone's taste. Hwee ping and my bf prefer sticky ice-cream while Eugene and I prefer flaky ice-cream maybe because it is harder and nearer to my impression of ice-creams. Well done Daniel...

A delighted Daniel posing with his masterpiece...

Now that everyone is progressing to be better than the previous person at ice-cream making so the standards are rising and more challenging...

As the climax escalates, so does my camera mounts towards hibernation. We have to take pictures using our handphones.

Watch out for 050908 Outing to Yuki 'N' Yaki @ Marina Square Part 2 to be posted by my bf with regards to Hwee Ping's, Eugene's, me and my bf's works.

Good Nite guys and gals!!!
